What is the Bible to you?

The Bible is not a collection of books written by unrelated individuals. It is God’s message written by diverse people throughout hundreds of years with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and a consistent central subject from the first to the final book. According to 2 Peter 1:20-21 NIV, “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about through the prophet’s own interpretation of things.” For prophecy never originated in the human will; prophets, though human, spoke from God as guided by the Holy Spirit.”

The Bible is more than just information about God and other saints; it is God’s word that provides guidance and direction in life, outlining both the immediate stages and the overarching journey.

The Bible’s central theme is Jesus Christ and his two primary characteristics, truth and love. The Bible is the only book that reveals the most intimate connection a man may have with God.

Is the Bible just history? No, it is largely about the Gospel and the Principle. The gospel allows us to be one with God, whereas principle leads to a prosperous live.

Is the Bible merely for knowledge? No, it primarily provides a revelation of God via Jesus.

God uses the Bible to communicate his divine plans for humans. Yes, the Bible is used to learn about GOD and, more importantly, about MAN.

History describes how a guy was. Philosophy defines how a man should be, whereas the Bible defines who the man was. Without the Bible, man cannot be in his proper design as created by God.

Yes, God disclosed his true identity to man through the Bible? How God created him. How valuable he was to God and humanity. How much God loves him. What He can accomplish for him.

In our world, judicial law punishes men to prevent them from making mistakes, but it cannot reform them (INNERMAN). It can only dominate man via terror. In contrast, the Bible teaches that God punishes man in order to transform him. He created a way that transformed man not through fear, but by the overcoming of power inside him.

In this world, intelligence and power tell us that I can accomplish anything.

Freedom says I can go anyplace. However, the Bible provides a proper definition of freedom: it is not doing, even if you have the freedom to do anything. Freedom is described as living a life guided by the Holy Spirit rather than outward approbation or the pursuit of worldly interests.

The Bible has given a practical power that leads mankind into righteous life. 2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV) says “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” The word “God-breathed” emphasizes that Scripture originates from God Himself. Rather than being human speculation or tradition, Scripture carries divine authority. Scripture provides instruction in truth. It tells us who God is, what He expects, and how we should live. It’s useful in educating believers about sound doctrine. It exposes and convicts us of sin. The Bible corrects false beliefs and reveals moral failures, acting as a mirror to show us where we fall short. After reproving, the Word also guides us back on the right path. It not only points out what’s wrong but shows how to make it right. Scripture shapes and disciplines us to live godly lives. God uses Scripture to develop character and spiritual maturity in His people.
