Waiting at my watch post

When we are struggling in life, we used to seek the Lord for help, but we don’t accept his silence for our prayers. We tend to be frustrated and lose our faith while this is continuing. Apart from our struggles, we also raise complaint to the Lord about his silence, and we’ll be dissatisfied as if the Lord is not seeing my struggles and not inclined to my prayers.

Likewise in the Bible, there is a prophet named Habakkuk who has raised his complaint about the wickedness going around him and received an answer from the Lord. But here we have to learn a lesson from the life of Habakkuk in dealing with complaints.

Habakkuk 2:1 says “I will take my stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint” Here, Habakkuk is waiting on the Lord for the answer, and his heart towards waiting makes a difference in comparison with our waiting. He mentioned his thirst and thirst for the Lord metaphorically.
Let’s decode his precise statement to have a fruitful prayer life.
Habakkuk is waiting for the Lord’s answer to his complaints.
Taking a stand at my watch post and tower defines my diligence and patience while praying. A soldier observing at a watch post has to be careful and watchful, and he should not miss anything that he was appointed for. Likewise, we should wait patiently in our prayers for the answer despite the passing of time.

The psalmist says (Psalm 123:2) “As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he shows us his mercy.” So, we should wait for the Lord until he responds at his appointed time.
As mentioned before, if a soldier is unable to wait diligently and patiently, then he will miss the point of what he’s waiting for and, as a soldier, he failed in his appointed work. So, being a soldier of Christ (2 Timothy 2:3), “endure hardness as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.” Wait diligently (wholeheartedly with strong faith) and patiently for the Lord.

What does waiting on the Lord bring?

The Bible says,

You’ll become strong and renewed.
Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. ”

Though he’s not answering at that moment, he’s still working for you.
Exodus 14:14 “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

To abundantly bless you.
Isaiah 30:18 “So the LORD must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion.” For the LORD is a faithful God. “Blessed are those who wait for his help.”

He hears you and counts your tears.
Psalm 40:1 “I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry.”

So, this brought Habakkuk a divine response from God that satisfied his soul. Habakkuk 3:3 “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. Today the Lord is saying to us, though it takes time to occur and is not answered, don’t lose your faith (Habakkuk 2:4). The righteous shall live by his faith. Keep going and everything will be answered and established at his appointed time.
The Bible clearly says, “Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors” (Proverbs 8:34).
So, wait wholeheartedly, patiently, and relentlessly at his feet, which leads to abundant blessings.

Now the choice is…

Either
Wait and be blessed at his appointed time.
Or
Leave him
