Inverse proportionality in a CHRISTIAN LIFE

Being a believer, we are well aware of leading life with faith and handling hard situations and troubles. But, there’s always a hindrance while coping with repercussions which make us fall astray from the plan of God and lose our faith as well. Yes, the most dangerous aspect in one’s life is depression.

Depression occurs when our expectations are not matching with the reality of our life.
Yes, we have God-willing expectations which are promised by God, and we’re leading life with hope through faith, but when we see the things in our life happening not according to the promises of God, then we start going into depression.

Basic logic of inverse proportionality says…
In a system, one quantity decreases with the increase of another quantity.

Let’s apply this in our spiritual life…

If faith increases, then depression decreases, or if faith decreases, then depression increases.

Let’s see how this faith will suppress the depression.
We believe in Jesus and while asking God, we ask with the hope that God will provide our needs. Even the Bible says the same (Matthew 21:22).”And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” Here we should acknowledge the important point, which is time. Right from Genesis to Revelation, God has planned everything according to his time(Isaiah 60:22).”I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly”. So, we have to understand that our expected time may not be God’s time because he who appointed a specific time for things to happen (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

Moreover, The Bible defines faith with unseen and invisible aspects (Hebrews 11:1).”Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see”. Where it talks about future aspects and what all the promises that we receive from God are incorporated with faith and his perfect timing. The Bible says (Jeremiah 29:11)”For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.
Sometimes God is not promising for immediate results because all he wants from us is faith, and he wants to engrave us according to his promise in this mean time.

Though we understand the timing of God and faith, but we still have that swing in faith levels while facing life. The only way to cope with this scenario is seeking God. Yes, The Bible clearly mentioned a context (Mark 9:24)”Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” The only way to overcome unbelief is seeking God for help.

So, whenever you feel depressed and losing faith, then please go to God. Jesus is giving an assurance (Matthew 11:28) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”. Yes, he’s ready to free us from all the worldly struggles. If our gracious God hasn’t spared his only son for us, then how come he’ll leave someone who’s seeking him for help? Jesus died for us though we’re not worthy enough. He shed his blood to rescue us from the slavery of sin and give us eternal life. Likewise, he’s willing to rescue us from this depression too.

Now the question is ….

Are you seeking God for your unbelief?
Are you believing In God’s time?
