Nowadays, we are used to this body shaming in a way either facing and doing to others. Most of the entertainment platforms generating fun by body shaming the people over there. This clearly says that we are used to receiving the fun through body shaming. But, this effects the thought process of the future generations. They may understand that hurting others by making them conscious about their body will be a fun factor, and it’s quite normal. But, the things are different on the other side. We don’t know the pain and hurt they will experience and also the reason behind that abnormal issue.
Let’s think in a Biblical way, being a believers we often do the same, and we think this is nothing in sight of GOD. But, God’s perspective is something different from us. The Bible says that “God created man(male & female) in his own image(Genesis 1:27). We all created by God and if someone is looking odd to us that doesn’t mean God didn’t create them or God has committed mistake. In the Book of Job we can clearly see that everything in this creation is under his control. We are neither a random process that occurred nor a natural selection, he made mankind with a plan and vision(Psalms 139:14)” I am fearfully and wonderfully made”. So, mocking someone’s body is mocking his creator(Isaiah 64:8). World doesn’t know who is the creator of man but, being a believer we know our creator. So, if we treat others with a derision we should recall that we are mocking God. The Bible clearly says ” Do not be deceived: God is not mocked”(Galatians 6:7) and we are well aware what happens if we mock God and his creation. Body shaming is nothing for the wicked(Proverbs 10:23) but, the righteous should not do the same.
In a letter of James(3:18-12) few metaphors has been given to understand the heart behind our actions. Yes, mocking others pertaining to the creation is evil. We should not mock any of his creation with abstract or concrete aspects because that’s an insult to the maker(Proverbs 17:5) and he is concerned with this kind of sin. In proverbs, we can see that” He is scornful toward the scorners”.
Sometimes we do the same with respect to the spiritual aspects, assessing the spirituality of others and judging their life based on their spirituality. God clearly saying that we are no one to judge others(Mathew 7:1-5). We can correct each other but not discrimination. Moreover, we are no one to assess the spiritual status of others(1 Corinthians 10:18) The Lord commends. So we should not mock anyone as per their body or spirituality, and we should reflect the love of Christ to them through our actions and encourage them in all the ways(1 Thessalonians 5:14).
Let’s assume “what if they pray to God against you ?” God will incline his ears to the afflicted (Psalms 10:17-18). The Bible is full of examples wherein God heard the cry of afflicted. According to Galatians (6:7-8) we will face the same thing the way we did to others” what we sow is what we reap”. But, now God has given a chance to repent on our sins through JESUS our redeemer. Today God is speaking to you and asking you to repent on these sins as he didn’t want you to be blamed by satan even for a minor mistake.
Now the question is …..
What’s the difference are you making being a church/believer with the world?
The people who don’t know God are body shaming but, what are we doing being a person who was accepted by Christ.
Check yourself…
Jesus says” whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them”. So, repent on your sin(1 John 1:9) and transform so that we can face God without any guilt.
