What is salvation? What is the purpose of JESUS coming to this world?
We are well familiar with the events that occurred in the life of Zacchaeus in which his encounter with JESUS CHRIST transformed his life forever. Zacchaeus is a chief tax collector who is greedy and an exploiter. Jesus while passing through the city of Jericho, he called Zacchaeus who was seeking him as he heard about Christ before. Jesus entered his house, and he accepted Christ joyfully. He received salvation and his life was transformed, and Jesus called him the son of Abraham. This gives us a clear understanding about the birth of Jesus Christ.
Initially, Zacchaeus is a sinful man, but he acknowledged when Jesus called him, and at the same moment he accepted Christ with a joyful heart. This made him to repent and leave his sinful life. We can see the four steps that occurred in this event which we can apply in our life 1) Acknowledge 2) Accept 3) Repent 4) Transform. These steps will take us to the glorious presence of God(Heaven).
Likewise, we are in a sinful life and got to hear the Word through the men of GOD, but the problem is we are not acknowledging the truth that has been proclaimed and not realizing our individual sinful life. The Bible clearly says (Isaiah 55:6) “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near”. So, we should acknowledge and accept his word before it is too late because there are the days that coming soon where the spiritual famine occurs (Amos 8:11) “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign LORD, “when I will send a famine through the land— not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD”. Moreover, mere listening does not make any difference unless and until we accept Christ as our Savior. Accepting Christ is having faith in God who has sent his only son as a propitiation through his blood to save us from sin and believing that only through him we will receive salvation and a way to heaven ( John 14:6 )” Jesus is the only way to reach God” .
Secondly, this acceptance should bring repentance and penitent faith which will transform our life as God is expecting. We often consider ourselves that we were saved simply by accepting Jesus, but accepting Christ is doing according to the will of GOD. God hates sin and sinful life even though you have accepted Christ; the only hindrance to reaching God and receiving the Holy Spirit is sin. So, repent and be baptized so that God will dwell within us (Acts 2:38) and “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy” (Proverbs 28:13). Moreover, living a faithful life plays an important role in the sight of God. As Zacchaeus, our life should be transformed according to the word that we received by correcting our mistakes, avoiding sin and treating others with the same grace that we have received. Our transformed life should be reflected in others lives through our actions. The Bible clearly says in James 1:22 and 2:26 that faith without actions and listening to the Word without correction (actions) is useless and dead.
My dear friends, please do not neglect salvation and do not think that this is not the right time and age for accepting Christ because the Word clearly says that “Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). We have been hearing that the day of the Lord is near, and he is coming soon. Yes, we are very used to that promise and people mocking that. Actually, no one knows the day of the LORD, but the point is we do not know when we leave this world. So, please care what you hear from men of God and receive salvation. Whoever accepts Christ will become the children of Abraham and also become a part of the fulfillment of his promise (letter to Galatians).
Being a Christian, we should compare our life with the scriptures because God is the only one to save, protect, care and take us to heaven.
Now, the question is…
Are you saved through faith?
Are you in true Biblical salvation?
